Information for New Members
The society is always looking for new talent, so if you are a singer, dancer or actor, or are lucky enough to be all three and would like to join the society then please contact the administrator, Sarah Cocking, by email to newmembers@carltonoperatic.com.
Membership Subscriptions 2007-08
Subscriptions for the 2007/8 season will be due immediately at the start of the musical rehearsals on 6th September 2007.

Please complete the application form at the back of the welcome pack and hand it along with the appropriate payment to the registrar. Payment can be made by either cash or cheque made payable to 'Carlton Operatic Society'.
Please note, to be eligible to audition for the 2007/8 production of Summer Holiday, you must be a fully paid member of the Society.
All information held by the Society will be Confidential in line with the Data Protection Act.
Company Audition
Every member of the Society is required to audition on an annual basis.
Company auditions will take place on 13th and 17th September 2007 at United Reformed Church Hall, Forester Street, Netherfield, Nottingham. The anticipated start time will be 7.00pm. Details can be seen here.
Should you be unable to attend either of the above dates, please inform the administrator and we will do our utmost to arrange an alternative date / time.
When attending the company audition you will be required to sing a song of your choice that reflects your vocal range. Please bring along the appropriate score for piano accompaniment.
Before the audition you will be required to provide a stamped addressed envelope. The Administrator will inform you of the outcome of your audition.
Should you be unsuccessful in getting into the production, there are a number of options available to you that will allow involvement with the Society, for example:
- Help during show week, backstage or front of house
- Assist with wardrobe duties
- Attend / take part in social activities

Principal Auditions
Principal auditions will take place on 27th September 2007 at United Reformed Church Hall, Forester Street, Netherfield, Nottingham. The anticipated start time will be between 7.00pm - 7.30pm (dependent on the number of people auditioning).
The dialogue and musical audition pieces will be available from the first rehearsal on 6th September 2007.
To enable you to be considered for a principal part, it will be necessary for you to confirm your interest on the appropriate audition slip; these forms will be available during the music rehearsals and at the company auditions.
You will be required to submit your application to the administrator in advance, no later than 17th September 2007.
Once all applications have been received we initiate time slots for the different roles to attend the audition. Detailed information of this will be provided a week before the principal audition.
Before the audition you will be required to provide a stamped addressed envelope. The Administrator will inform you of the outcome of your audition.
Please note you have to have been successful in the company auditions before applying for a principal part.
Dance Auditions
Dance Auditions will be part of the Company auditions, and between 6-8 dancers will be chosen to lead the dancing. It is expected that most ensemble members will be involved in at least part of the dancing throughout the show.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals will take place on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, and some Sunday mornings. See here for details.
Evening rehearsals start promptly at 7.30pm and last until 9.30pm at United Reformed Church Hall, Forester Street, Netherfield, Nottingham.
As we get closer to the production additional rehearsals will take place. Please refer to the additional timetable that will be issued once auditions have taken place.
A register of attendance of acting members during rehearsals will take place, should you be absent for any reason can you please inform the registrar or the administrator who will mark your absence accordingly. The committee can prohibit any member whose attendance at rehearsals has been irregular or persistently unpunctual from taking part in the performance.
